Manhattan Meets Mathews

This past weekend, a very diverse group of women--most of whom had never seen each other IRL (in real life) --met in Mathews County for 3 days of activities.

The photo above was from Saturday, my favorite day of Blog Fest.

It all started with a ride on a work boat from Davis Creek out to the New Point Comfort lighthouse. Ann Marie and her husband so generously provided this tour and even arranged for porpoises to frolic right along side the boat at the mouth of the creek.

The paying job will demand my focus and attention for the next several days but I'll share pictures and stories about our incredible gathering as time permits throughout the week.

In the mean time, please click on the links below which belong to some of the most talented writers, photographers and human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

To the lovely ladies below, thank you for visiting Mathews, and please don't be a stranger. You know the way now, so you have to come back.

Big Hair Envy - VIRGINIA

Grandma J and PJB - TEXAS

Foolery - CALIFORNIA

Meg/Soup is not a Finger Food - MARYLAND

Mental P Mamma - CONNECTICUT

TS Annie - CONNECTICUT

Daryl - NEW YORK CITY

AsthmaGirl- SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

The Baroness -CANADA

Marlene and Hard Working Man - VIRGINIA

Country Girl Kate - MARYLAND

Noe Noe Girl a Queen of All Trades and Awesome Husband- VIRGINIA

Momx2 - VIRGINIA

Auds at Iambarkingmad and Darling Daughter -MAINE

Anne Marie and The Waterman - MATHEWS, VA

To Anonymous Mathews Native and her family - Thanks so very much not only for the ham biscuits but for sharing a lady who is overflowing with knowledge and stories about the way Mathews used to be.

Thanks to everyone else who attended and/or otherwise supported this incredible event. It takes a village, or in this case a county.

Love, cbw

Just crawled in the door after two flight delays, but can't go to bed without saying thank you for hosting the best sleepover I've ever been on.

I was so glad to see Phil again, and how sweet that he got all dressed up in a tux for the opening night of blogfest. You have turned him into a real southern gentleman!

I can't wait to blog about the incredible piece of heaven that was "home" for the last four days. Can't wait to go back, and I'm looking forward to next year's blogfest no matter where it is.
You know your mom is hoping it's a cruise fest!

I don't really know the way without my human navigator/Press Secretary, but I DO know the backroads through King and Queen County like the front of my hand.

I find it strange being such a natterer, and I can't quite come up with the words to describe what a soul-feeding experience I had, thanks to your kind offer.

Should you ever feel the need to get your pioneering spirit on and venture North of the border, my door is always open.

Big Hugs to you and your family - you are all so very gracious.

CBW,
Like many have said, words are inadequate to describe the joy and bonding that Blog Fest provided. Huge Kudos to you, Big Hair Envy, the parents, your friends in Matthews and the folks running the grill at the beach on Gwynn's Island. It was an amazing experience. If y'all ever end up on the left coast, get in touch! We'll go look at our beaches and pubs!

I don't even know that there are words enough to tell you how grateful I am for all the work you put into this. Everything was perfect in EVERY way.

I know we'll probably be seeing you sooner rather than later. *wink*

Can't wait.

I can't believe you went to work today and didn't schedule a personal day to recoup and recover. But what do I know, I'm just a guy.

I shrivel at the thought of documenting this weekend, because whatever I write won't be big enough, rich enough, colorful enough, funny enough.

The same goes for the many, many thank yous I want to express. Please know that I am deeply grateful for the experience you so graciously and openly provided -- you, your family, friends and town have welcomed and charmed us all.

If I weren't permanently tied to my home state I'd be selling corn on the highway in Mathews by next month.

Love and thanks to you all,

Laurie @ Foolery

p.s. the word verification is "undes" -- I didn't leave any there, did I?

Sounds like it was all too much fun! Sorry I missed it but I'll be there next year, for sure. You know. If I'm still alive by then.

Oh & glad to see the great state of Texas was well represented by Grandma J!
