Three Things

Welcome to Three Thing Thursday which happens once a week, usually on Thursday.

The swiftness with which Thursday arrives each week leads me to believe that Thursday and Monday are conspiring to take over the entire week and run the other days clear out of town.

There seems to be a Monday, then a Thursday, then a Saturday, another Monday, another Thursday and then it's Christmas.

If anything the week should consist of Saturday, then Friday, then Saturday, THEN Christmas, followed by Sunday, four months of vacation, another Thursday, and another Friday. Rinse and repeat.

To whom must I write to get this whole calendar problem corrected?

Anyway, every Thursday I share three things and you share three things; whatever thoughts happen to manifest themselves at the time you are writing.

Let's begin.

1. The shot above is from down Redart at the place Mathews Mark was working a couple of months ago. Mathews Mark has been MIA here lately only because he has limited access to the internet. However, I have an appointment with him to discuss a few projects I need his help with, so I'll have a report on him soon.

(When I say "appointment," what I really mean is we've loosely discussed--at a very high level--the possibility of meeting. Ergo the exact, precise time of that appointment is as follows, give or take a week: Sometime.)

2. The oil which has already spewed forth in the Gulf of Mexico is profoundly disturbing to me. That it continues to erupt makes me all kinds of angry.

3. As a footnote to yesterday's post on the Tour de Chesapeake, this week's Gazette Journal goes into detail about the various events happening (in addition to the spandex and helmets biking) to include:

* a Beer and Sausage Fest sponsored by the Rotary folks from 2-7 (Oh yes indeed. A Sausage Fest with Beer. I wouldn't miss this for all the kielbasa in the world.)

*a wine tasting at The White Dog (can't remember the time but something like 4-7)

* bands at Southwind and Sandpiper which will last into the evening

In short, it's a Bike and Music Fest Which Includes Sausage this weekend here in Mathews.

And I, for one, can't wait.

Now it's your turn to share three (or more) things. Just like my posts, your three things need not have any rhyme or reason and any reference to sausage festivals is completely voluntary.

1. Every time my son sees someone riding a bike on the road while we are in the car he yells "Bike get out da road" I have no clue where he learned that from.

2. Sausage and spandex... sounds like another womanless beauty pageant.

3. Memorial Day weekend can not get here fast enough!

1. Sausage-fest. Snort.

2. My cleaner has declined to come today on the grounds that the house will be TOO DIRTY, what with all the workman. I mean, she has a point, but.... dirt IS her business, no?

3. Guess what I will be doing today?

3a. Current score: Mrs F 7, Mice Family 1.

1. I am home, sick...so maybe I'll actually blog today.

2. My son who has worn a t-shirt to school 99% of the time (okay, I didn't run the numbers but he wore a regular shirt once last week and that is the only time I remember him doing that this year) insisted that I get him a black suit for 4th grade graduation. Nobody will recognize him...but he will be wearing the suit...and he looks "sharper than I expected"...his words. :-)

3. Check out my facebook wall if you want to see the picture of someone preoccupied with an oil spill. I may be driving people nuts. It is the biggest environmental tragedy I've seen, and it could have been prevented if we'd insisted on a certain valve which was not all that costly in the scheme of things... You know, that tragedy could visit our beautiful Chesapeake if people don't stand up against drilling offshore here.

Sounds like a fun weekend!
I'm fresh out of three things because my brain doesn't work.

WV: "intimm": The couple tried to have an intimate moment, but only managed an intimm one.

1. Hmmm... might have to head to Mathews this weekend for beer. Sausage, eh, not so much.
2. Incredibly disappointed that Gloucester's softball team, on which my oldest daughter plays, was denied a possible undefeated season by Mother Nature. I mean seriously. It hasn't rained in a month. Does the sky REALLY have to open up half an inning after our opponent scores the go ahead run? Really?
3. I get entirely tooooo wrapped up in softball. Need to get a life.
WV - ancing - After sausage, beer and lots of wine, there was ancing in the streets of Mathews County!

1. I always feel at home here because of commenters like Mrs F, because apparently we are both 13 year old boys trapped inside of a grown woman's body.

2. Don't even get me started on the oil spill. This whole, well, we might have it contained by, oh, I dunno, maybe later this week?? is complete BS.

3. I was up till 1:30 a.m. working on the "yearbook" for my son's preschool "graduation." Draft is at school for proofreading - I'd hate to spell anyone's name wrong - and if all goes well I'll be able to put it (and me!) to bed before 10pm tonight.

Extra! Extra! According to this week's paper, there will also be a FREE pig roast and reception from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night at the Bay School of the Arts.

Lots goin' on around here for such a tiny little town.

Mrs F with 4 said...

A reception for the roasted pig?! Do you have to dress for dinner? A receiving line? And the pig will be wearing? An apple?

I think it might be time to have some wine around here. As opposed to some whine, of which there is plenty.

And thank you, Meg. I think.

Mrs F: No; thank YOU.

1. I am not a casting director. I like playing one on the Internutz, but that's it.

2. I spent Saturday prepping someone ELSE's garden. Mine looks like something out of Sleeping Beauty -- you know, 100 years' growth of thorny vines?

3. I can now play four hand bells at a time. This will mean nothing to anyone but me, but I am rather stuffed-shirt about it. Swelled head and everything.

Wish I were at the bausage and sneer festival with you guys. I can chew almost anyone under the table.
